disposable dances

Katie Hitchcock

A solo dance performance part of a series of work exploring the artist’s relationship between herself and her plastic trash. Throughout the choreographic process she continually engages with questions of how these materials came to be, why we throw them away, and how they cease to be, if at all. The performance creates an alternative space in which her personal discoveries about waste and consumption in everyday life are shared often with curious and unexpected results. It is the intention of the artist to share unexpected discoveries and emotions from the everyday activity of simply throwing something away.
