GMT

GMT is an Icelandic abbreviation for getting ready before a party or event (‘gera sig til’). It is a time-consuming ritual in most women’s life. Is it to charm, hide or express ourselves? Or is it to be an active member of today's society and not be dismissed? In a way, it can be seen as a mask or a costume and is a performance in itself. But is this practice or ritual empowering, oppressive, or can it be both simultaneously?
